We have undergone manufacturer certified training in the nomenclature, theory and employment of the Mensi GS 100 Long Range Scanner for accurately measuring and modeling exemplar and crashed vehicles. 1993 BMW 325ia
A 2002 Chevrolet Impala Police Interceptor:

Information:
The BMW 325ia was scanned from both sides and over 700,000 data points. Digital images taken by the scanner are then wrapped over the points to give it a 3d surrealistic appearance. Under the colors are points which can be cross sectioned, contoured or any series of measurements collected.
The 2002 Chevrolet Impala Police Interceptor of the Fulton County Georgia Police Department was scanned in 7 different locations with grid spacing at 5mm and averaging at 20 pulses per point. 1.7 million points were collected of the car. From the scanned data any series of reconstruction, modeling or animation activities can be performed. Once scanned, digital images can be applied to the points for coloring or illustration.
The next application of this technology is the exportation of data to a Rapid Prototyping System for the creation of smaller scale models for use in courtroom presentation. Photographs will be forthcoming. Stay tuned.
